A-One Diving, Ranong
This company situated right across the border in Thailand has many years experience in scuba diving trips to into the Mergui Archipelago. They used to run the local dive operations on McLeod Islands Myanmar Andman Resort and are currently running two budget scuba liveaboards into Mergui. Good choice for any budget travellers as they offer several different trips on their two boats.
Similan Diving Safaris, Khao Lak
this is one of the oldest liveaboard companies running budget backpacker trips to the Similan Islands from Khao Lak in Thailand. In 2012 they started to offer 5 day diving trips into the Mergui Archipelago with one of their boats. As it is one of the newer operators, they are very motivated to offer a good trip to their guests and are planning to widen their Myanmar operations. Trips can be joined from Khao Lak and guests will be transferred back there after the trip.
The Smiling Seahorse, Ranong
This french-run budget scuba operator from Ranong Thailand offers several different trips on their boat, the MV Thai Sea. Although their operation aims to the low cost market, they have built up a good track record of satisfied customers and some of their tour intineries are pretty unique.
Deep Andman Queen
The MV DEEP ANDAMAN QUEEN is a mid-range steel diving boat operating mainly in the Similan Islands offering one trip a month into the Mergui Archipelago. At the moment this is one of the very few mid-range options but the Burma Trips are quite pricy. Recent customer reviews indicate, that the staff is very knowledgeable about the dive sites but the condition of the boat does not justify the high tour price. As it is a sturdy steel vessel it is one of the safest options to travel all the way up to the famous Black Rock which is the highlight of all their Mergui tours.
