MY DrenecThe development of the Mergui Archipelago as a tourist destination continues. Burma Boating will be operating with five luxury sailing boats and one completely new Motoryacht from October 2015 on. The MY Drenec is a huge Motorvessel which was running leisure trips into the Arctic and then was fully refurbished in Malta to be transferred doewn to Myanmar at the moment. mergui diving daytrip boatNext to the developments in the luxury segment, a Khao Lak diving company will be operating a new platform dive boat in the southern part of the Mergui Archipelago in cooperation with the Andaman Club. Mainly visiting the dive sites Western Rocky / Fan Forest Pinnacle, the McLeod and Athet Island region as well as offering ovenight trips up to Great Swinton Island to visit the stunning 3 Islets, this operation is aimed for the budget traveller on a tight schedule. Nearly everyday there will be a speedboat transfer to and from the platform boat from Ranong, Thailand via the Myanmar entry point of the Andaman Club. This operation is very ambitious as the dive sites are minimum 40 miles away from Ranong and all transfers will be done by speedboat. Considering the Myanmar Visa & diving fees, this could still turn out to be a pricy daytrip – but a very exclusive one nonetheless.

At the moment very few details are known about this new daytrips, the boat is currently in Kaw Thaung ready to assume operation and the managers are working on the tour and pricing details. As soon as any new confirmed information arise, they will be announced here. Guests can join these daytrips from either Khao Lak or Ranong in Thailand.
